United Nations Secretary-General's Campaign to End Violence Against Women

November 25 2008 was the United Nation's (UN) International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. The UN estimates that at least one out of every three women in the world is likely to be beaten, coerced into sex or otherwise abused in her lifetime, and one in five women will become a victim of rape or attempted rape.

A website about the day, as well as information about the international problem of violence against women can be found here. One of the links on the website has a factsheet with helpful information about the nature and scope of the problem, as well as strategies to end violence against women.
